The 'official' closing date has been considered 1977 for some time. When this web site was first posted, I recieved numerous E-mails from people who said the rode the train in 1979. Some said they moved to Florida in 1979 and rode the train at that time. Another was a Fort Wilderness employee who was hired in 1979 and worked on the train. At the Fort Wilderness Railroad presentation in October 2003, Carolwood Pacific Historical Society governor Michael Campbell showed a series of tickets he purchased that had February 1978 dates stamped on the back.
